Northwestern Sweeps 2015 Big Ten Women's Golf Awards Northwestern’s
Emily Fletcher is the Big Ten Coach of the Year for the third time in
five seasons, Hannah Kim is the Player and Freshman of the Year and
five Wildcats earned All-Big Ten distinction, the Conference. The five
All-Big Ten honors for Northwestern are a program record, eclipsing the
four earned last season. Wildcats Battle Back to Stun Badgers in OT, 86-83 Northwestern
furiously rallied from 15 points down in the second half to force
overtime with less than two seconds remaining, and eventually win the
game in the extra period, 86-83. The Wildcats won their seventh
consecutive contest and improved to 21-6 overall this season and 11-5
in Big Ten play. NU also remained unbeaten in overtime at 3-0. Cats Complete Comeback to Drop Cardinal 20-19 Northwestern
won the dual's final three bouts, including two in overtime and No. 1
heavyweight Mike McMullan sealed the match in the final dual to
complete the turnaround victory for NU. Incoming 'Cats Lead USA All-Star Team for Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic Three
incoming members of the Northwestern wrestling class have been selected
to represent the USA All-Star Team at the 40th Dapper Dan Wrestling
Classic. Bryce Brill (Mt. Carmel, Ill.), Stevan Micic (Hanover Central,
Ind.) and Johnny Sebastian (Bergen Catholic, N.J,), all signed to
National Letters of Intent in November by Northwestern head coach Drew
Pariano, were chosen for the prestigious high school all-star meet. No. 14 Northwestern Falls to No. 1 Penn State The
three-time defending NCAA champions Penn State Nittany Lions proved too

Ill. – No. 13 Northwestern opened it’s Big Ten home schedule by
defeating the No. 23 ranked Indiana Hoosiers 27-12 Saturday at
Welsh-Ryan Arena.
NU won seven of the 10 bouts, including two by bonus points to improve
to 6-1 and 1-1 in conference play.

of five current high school seniors to National Letters of Intent to
wrestle for NU beginning in 2012. This year's recruiting class has
multiple state titles amongst them and spans the country as Dominick
Malone (Granby, Conn./Wyoming Seminary), Garrison White (Concord,
N.C./Jay M. Robinson), Matt Greene (Slingerlands, N.Y./Columbia), Jason
Tsirtsis (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) and Ben Sullivan (Eagle River,
Alaska/Apple Valley) and are set to join the Wildcats.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Northwestern used a combination of solid defense and
a crafty in-bounds play to defeat Michigan 1-0 Saturday night in Ann
Arbor. Michigan fired off 18 shots while NU goalies Sam Hatfield
(Crossfield, Alberta/W.G. Murdoch) and Anna Cassell (Salt Lake City,
Utah/Skyline) combined to save five shots and Northwestern scored on an
own goal for the 1-0 victory.

EVANSTON, Ill. – Senior Jill Dunn (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley)
scored her second goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1 in the
second half but Purdue notched a goal in the 59th minute to secure the
2-1 victory at Lakeside Field. After playing their first three Big Ten
games on the road, tonight’s game was the first conference match for
Northwestern at Lakeside Field this season.

Sets 2011-12 Men's Basketball Schedule
NU is set to have three nonconference games televised by Big Ten
Network beginning with the Nov. 13 season- and home-opener against
Texas-Pan American. The two other games prior to the start of
conference play that are being broadcast on BTN are the Dec. 4 contest
against Baylor and the Dec. 18 matchup with Eastern Illinois.

FALL TO FLYERS IN OVERTIME, 2-1
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Emily
Langston (Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos) scored her second goal in as
many games Sunday, but Northwestern gave up a goal 1:42 into overtime
and fell to Dayton, 2-1, in the final game of the 2011 Lakeside Classic.
Langston’s goal came in the 38th minute off a throw-in by sophomore
Nicole Jewell (Raleigh, N.C./Leesville Road). Jewell launched her throw
into the box, where it
bounced through traffic and allowed Langston to get a head on it. Her
initial header was deflected by Dayton goalkeeper Katherine Boone, but
Langston followed her shot and drove it into the back of the
net.

Shannon Smith Tabbed Suzy Favor Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year
CHICAGO -- Already the national player of the year in NCAA women's
lacrosse, Northwestern junior Shannon Smith (West Babylon, N.Y./West
Babylon) on Monday was recognized as the year's most outstanding
performer in all of Big Ten women's athletics, winning the 2011 Suzy
Favor Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year award.
Smith is the fourth Northwestern student-athlete to receive the
prestigious distinction, following the likes of her former teammate on
the lacrosse team Hannah Nielsen in 2008 as well as two-sport athlete
Jennifer Averill in 1987 and softball's Lisa Ishikawa in 1984. Smith
joins Nielsen as the only two recipients in the 31-year history of the
award to play a sport not sponsored by the Big Ten Conference.
