WIN Magazine Ranks 2012 Recruiting Class in Top 10
Second top 10 recruiting class in last three seasons for Northwestern
EVANSTON,
Ill. – Northwestern has pulled in another top 10 recruiting class
according to WIN Magazine. The wrestling publication recently released
its annual recruiting rankings and the group of five new Wildcats is
slated as the 10th best class in the country.
Additionally, WIN
ranks three NU recruits in the top 10 for their respective weight
classes including Jason Tsirtsis (No. 1 at 145), Dominick Malone (No. 6
at 126) and Garrison White (No. 8 at 120).
Here’s what WIN Magazine has to say about Drew Pariano’s second recruiting class as Northwestern’s head coach:
“Coach
Drew Pariano scored his best class yet, built on three lower-weight
cornerstones: National Prep champion Dominic Malone (125) of Kingston
(Pa.) Wyoming Seminary, two-time North Carolina champion Garrison White
(125-133) of Concord Jay M. Robinson High and arguably the nation’s top
recruit, three-time Indiana champion Jason Tsirtsis (141-149) of Crown
Point High. Ben Sullivan (165) of Apple Valley (Minn.) High is a former
Alaska champion.”
This is Northwestern’s second top 10 class in
the last three seasons as the 2010 class earned a No. 2 ranking by WIN
Magazine and InterMat.
The Wildcats return to the mat Sunday,
Dec. 11, hosting its first two true home duals at Welsh-Ryan Arena with
the NU Duals. NU takes on SIU-Edwardsville at 3 p.m. and hosts
Indianapolis at 5 p.m.
Northwestern fans have plenty of chances
to see the Wildcats in action during the month of December and early
January. Following the NU Duals, Northwestern hosts North Central
College at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 and then the 49th annual Ken Kraft
Midlands Championships Dec. 29-30. NU then turns its attention to the
Big Ten season, hosting Michigan in the conference opener at 7 p.m. on
