Northwestern Sets 2011-12 Men's Basketball Schedule
EVANSTON,
Ill. -- Dates, times and television designations have been set
for the entire 2011-12 Northwestern men's basketball schedule.
The
dates for Northwestern's nonconference schedule and its Big Ten games
televised by the ESPN family of networks had been previously announced.
NU
is set to have three nonconference games televised by Big Ten Network
beginning with the Nov. 13 season- and home-opener against Texas-Pan
American. The two other games prior to the start of conference play
that are being broadcast on BTN are the Dec. 4 contest against Baylor
and the Dec. 18 matchup with Eastern Illinois.
The Wildcats'
exhibition game vs. Robert Morris (Ill.) as well four other
nonconference home games are being streamed live on the Big Ten Digital
Network on Wildcats All-Access. The platform previously known as
BigTenNetwork.com has been combined with Wildcats All-Access with the
games still being streamed in high definition.
Northwestern
faces yet another challenging test to open Big Ten play this season as
the first six conference games are all against teams that appeared in
the NCAA tournament a year ago. League play opens Dec. 28 as the
Wildcats travel to defending Big Ten champion Ohio State.
Following
the conference home opener against Penn State on New Year's Day,
Illinois comes to Welsh-Ryan Arena on Jan. 4. The 'Cats head to
Michigan one week later before returning home to take on Michigan State
Jan. 14 in a Saturday matinee.
NU's lone meeting with Wisconsin
is on tap for Jan. 18 as the Wildcats travel to Madison. Northwestern
remains on the road Jan. 22 as it heads to Minnesota for a Sunday
afternoon contest.
Another Saturday afternoon contest is
scheduled for Jan. 28 when the Wildcats host Purdue before NU plays new
Big Ten member Nebraska for the only time during the 2011-12 campaign
at home Feb. 2.
The regular-season series with Illinois comes to
a close Feb. 5 in Champaign before Iowa makes the trip to Evanston four
days later. A road swing through the state of Indiana is slated for the
following week as Northwestern travels to Purdue Feb. 12 and Indiana
Feb. 15.
Three of the Wildcats' next four games will be played
at home as the Big Ten season winds down. The stretch opens with home
games against Minnesota and Michigan on Feb. 18 and 21, respectively.
Following a road game at Penn State Feb. 25, NU closes out its home
regular season the way it opened the overall slate by facing Ohio State
on Leap Year Day.
The Big Ten schedule concludes March 3 with Northwestern traveling to Iowa.
NU's one-plays for the 2011-12 season are Michigan State and Nebraska at home and Indiana and Wisconsin on the road.
Indianapolis' final year of a five-year run of hosting the Big Ten tournament runs from March 8-11.
