National Ranking for Hawkeyes The
national ranking listed next to the University of Iowa football team
shows the Hawkeyes are doing something right in 2015, but it doesn't

Saturday night. That was a really hard-fought game, as I said

a 3-0 shutout victory over Illinois Chicago on Sunday afternoon at the

Stephanie Norlander recorded her third career hat-trick in what was a
dominant performance by the University of Iowa field hockey team Sunday
afternoon at Grant Field. The Hawkeyes scored seven goals for the
second consecutive game, while picking up their first shutout of the

Cory Clark (133), Nick Moore (165), Mike Evans (174), and Bobby Telford
(285), but lost four one-point decisions and six-of-10 bouts overall to
suffer their first loss of the season. No. 9 Hawkeyes Set for Final Home Meet Iowa hosts Minnesota and Nebraska The
No. 9-ranked University of Iowa men’s gymnastics team competes in its
final home meet of the season against No. 11 Nebraska and No. 10

ninth-ranked University of Iowa field hockey team (5-2, 1-0) defeated
Rutgers on the road, 3-0, in Piscataway, New Jersey. The meeting
between the two teams marked the first-ever matchup as Big Ten
conference foes. Iowa 24, Pitt 20 Iowa
(3‐1) defeated Pitt (3‐1), 24‐20, on Saturday at Heinz Field. The
Hawkeyes outscored the Panthers, 17‐3, in the second half, and, 7‐0, in
the fourth quarter. It marked the second time in as many meetings Iowa
rallied passed Pitt in the fourth quarter. Hawkeyes Blank Northwestern, 1-0 Sophomore
Corey Burns’ first career goal sent the University of Iowa soccer team
to a 1-0 victory over Northwestern on Sundayafternoon at the Iowa
Soccer Complex. The win gives the Hawkeyes a 2-0 record in Big
Ten play for the first time since 2007. Iowa State – 20, Iowa – 17 "To
me that seemed to be the story of the game. We did a decent job in the
first half. Second half we just never got in the traction. Part of that
is self-inflicted and part of that is just good play on their part, so
credit goes to them."
Hawkeyes Set For Three-Game Road Trip The
seventh-ranked University of Iowa field hockey team (2-1) travels west
for a three-game road trip this week. The Hawkeyes will see action
Thursday vs. UC Davis at 3 p.m. (CT) and Friday at Stanford at 2 p.m.
(CT). Both contests will be played in Standford, California. Iowa’s
match at Stanford will be televised by Pac-12 Network. Iowa will
complete the three-game road swing Sunday at Pacific at 12:30 p.m. (CT)
in Stockton, California.
OWEN GILL IS HONORARY CAPTAIN Former University of Iowa running back Owen Gill will serve as honorary captain when the Hawkeyes host Ball State. Gill
was a four-year letterman for the Hawkeyes from 1981-84, who completed
his career as Iowa’s career rushing leader with 2,556 yards.

Bigach come up big as Iowa pierces the Big Ten win column
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Broderick Binns will talk for years about the time
he didn't sack Northwestern quarterback Dan Persa.
The fact the University of Iowa's senior defensive end didn't pull down
the reigning first team All-Big Ten Conference quarterback led to the
Hawkeyes taking a 10-0 first-quarter lead in a game they won 41-31.
Here's the play: Northwestern had first-and-goal from Iowa's 7 when
Persa took a snap. Binns broke through the Wildcat line and was
clinging to Persa's leg when UI teammate Steve Bigach raced in to lend
a hand.

Roll Over ULM, 45-17
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The offensive train kept on rolling, as the
University of Iowa football team racked up 453 yards of total offense
in a 45-17 victory over the University of Louisiana at Monroe Saturday
afternoon inside Kinnick Stadium.
"The guys showed up today, and I thought they did a really good job,"
said UI head coach Kirk Ferentz. "There were a couple of low points in
the game, but not an awful lot. I think we made progress, and did a lot
of good things out there."

AND PRASKA NAMED BIG TEN MEDAL OF HONOR WINNERS
PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- The Big Ten Conference office announced Wednesday
that Iowa football player Julian Vandervelde and sprinter and distance
runner Bethany Praska have been named Iowa’s 2011 Big Ten Medal of
Honor winners.
First awarded in 1914, the Big Ten endowed a Medal of Honor to be given
annually to a student in the graduating class of each university that
demonstrated proficiency in scholarship and athletics. In 1982, the
Medal of Honor was expanded to include a senior female athlete from
each institution.
Preseason
Honors Continue for Hawkeye Football
The 2011 Iowa Hawkeye football team continues to garner preseason media
attention. Lindy’s 2011 Big Ten Football magazine, on newsstands now,
named cornerback Shaun Prater to its preseason All-America team.
Prater, offensive lineman Riley Reiff and linebacker James Morris were
named to Lindy’s Preseason All-Big Ten team. |
