Jake Edwards Named Big Ten Runner of the Week

Shares weekly honors with Michael Brice of Wisconsin

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State senior Jake Edwards was named Big Ten Runner of the Week by the conference office after his first-place showing at the Appalachian State Mountaineer Open last Friday.

Edwards picked up the first individual title of his Buckeye career with a 6.4-kilometer time of 19:28, helping the Buckeyes to an easy team victory at the season-opening meet.  Wisconsin’s Michael Brice joined Edwards as co-Runner of the Week after a first-place performance at the Orange and Blue Preview.

The weekly honor is the first of senior’s career and the first for a Buckeye runner since Jeff See took home the award in Oct. 2009.
