Buckeyes Close Out A Rainy Inverness Intercollegiate
Ohio State finished tied for 11th after one round of play
COLUMBUS,
Ohio – The 23rd-ranked Ohio State men’s golf team finished the
Inverness Intercollegiate in 11th-place Tuesday after 18-holes of play.
The Scarlet and Gray recorded a 21-over 305 at the prominent par-71,
7,255-yard Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
The
tournament, hosted by the University of Toledo, was cut short due to
heavy rain Monday. Originally scheduled to play three rounds, the
eleven-team field was only able to complete a single round of play due
to the unfortunate weather.
Kent State walked away with the title with a 3-over 287, outlasting second-place Liberty by four strokes.
Senior
Alex Redfield led the Buckeyes, concluding the round tied for 17th
after shooting a 3-over 74 on the day. Freshman Grant Weaver, competing
as an individual, carded a 4-over 75 to tie for 25th overall.
Redshirt
freshman Logan Jones and freshman Boo Timko followed tied for 32nd and
39th, respectively. Jones posted a 5-over 76, while Timko recorded a
6-over 77.
Also competing for the Scarlet and Gray
were senior Dan Charen and junior Matt Turner. They each finished tied
in 46th with a 7-over 78.
Up Next, Ohio State will
once again host the Jack Nicklaus Invitational at the legend’s
personally designed Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The
tournament will consist of three rounds Oct. 10-11.
