COLUMBUS,
Ohio – Buckeye forwards Alex Lippincott and Ryan Dzingel picked up CCHA
Offensive and Gongshow Gear Rookie of the Week honors, respectively,
after each posted four points in the Ohio State men’s hockey team’s
series at Michigan over the weekend. After Ohio State posted a 2-1 win
Friday, Lippincott and Dzingel led the Buckeye charge in a 6-5 victory
Saturday night for a series sweep. An Akron, Ohio, native,
Lippincott was named the game’s first star in the 6-5 win at Michigan
Saturday after a career-high two goals and four points. In addition, he
matched his career best with two assists and a +2 mark. Lippincott
scored in the first to tie the game at 1, assisted on Chris Crane’s
goal that gave Ohio State a 2-1 lead and then had the first assist on
Ryan Dzingel’s power-play tally for a 4-2 Ohio State advantage in the
second period. His second goal of the game came at 4:48 of the third
(3:02 after Michigan had drawn within one), was on the power play and
was the eventual gamewinner. This season, Lippincott has three goals, three assists and six points while playing in eight games. Dzingel
led all CCHA rookies with four points last week, as he had a
career-high two goals, two assists and four points to earn second-star
honors Saturday. The Wheaton, Ill., native recorded the first assist on
the Buckeyes’ first two goals of the game, which gave the squad a 2-1
lead and came less than three minutes apart. In the second period, with
Ohio State on a major power play, Dzingel scored twice in 16 seconds
for a 4-2 Buckeye lead. He matched his career high with a +2 mark. Dzingel
has 13 points this season, with five goals and eight assists. He is
tied for fifth nationally in points per game among rookies (1.00). The
league honors are the first for both Lippincott and Dzingel. Earlier
this season Devon Krogh was named the league’s defenseman of the week,

honored as the rookie of the week. Lippincott, Dzingel and
the Buckeyes, now ranked No. 9/10 in the nation and on a seven-game
winning streak, have this week off before hosting three-consecutive
