Buckeye Evans Tabbed ECAC Rookie of the Week
COLUMBUS,
Ohio – Turner Evans, a freshman midfielder on the Ohio State men’s
lacrosse team, has been named the ECAC Lacrosse League Rookie of the
Week. The Peterborough, Ontario, native had three points vs. No. 1
Virginia Saturday. Evans recorded the first points of his
career in a narrow 11-9 loss to the Cavaliers, with two goals and an
assist to lead the Buckeyes. He scored the team’s second goal for a 2-0
lead less than five minutes into the game. His second tally came early
in the third quarter, putting Ohio State ahead, 8-6. He also recorded a
career-best two groundballs against the Cavaliers. The
Buckeyes return to action with two games this week. The team will host
No. 6/7 Notre Dame at 4 p.m. Wednesday and return to ECAC Lacrosse
League action with a 7 p.m. game vs. Bellarmine Saturday. Both games
will be played in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The game
vs. the Irish is Pay It Forward Day. Fans who bring a children’s book
to donate to the Reach Out and Read program at Nationwide Children's
Hospital will receive free admission. Lifeline of Ohio will also be at
the stadium, with fans who sign up to be an organ donor admitted free.
Ohio State will celebrate Senior Night at the Bellarmine contest.
