Huskers Finish Off Buckeyes 3-1

Ohio – The No. 13 Nebraska volleyball team (15-4, 8-2) came back to top
the No. 24 Ohio State Buckeyes 3-1 (22-25, 25-12, 25-17, 25-19) at St.
John Arena on Friday night. Kelsey Robinson tallied her
11th double-double of the season with a match-high 19 kills and 10
digs, while also recording a .405 hitting percentage. Kadie Rolfzen
posted 16 kills and a .419 hitting clip, while Meghan Haggerty notched
10 kills, a .350 hitting clip and five blocks. Mary Pollmiller also
posted a double-double with 53 assists and 11 digs. Justine
Wong-Orantes led NU with 15 digs and Brenna Lyles had three aces. The
Buckeyes came out to a 9-5 lead in the first set, while a kill from
Hall put the Huskers within 12-9. Ohio State went up 18-13, but three
straight kills from Kadie Rolfzen closed the gap at 18-17, OSU, and
forced the Buckeyes to call a timeout. Cecilia Hall and Amber Rolfzen
used a block to cut the Buckeye lead to 21-20, however Ohio State held
on for the 25-22 first-set win. Kadie Rolfzen and Robinson
both had five kills in the set, while Pollmiller handed out 15 assists.
Nebraska hit .308 for the set, while Ohio State hit .303 and the
Huskers out-blocked the Buckeyes 3-2. Service errors proved costly in
the first set as Nebraska had three and the Buckeyes were errorless
from the service line. Nebraska opened the second set with
a 6-2 lead on the heels of two kills from Kadie Rolfzen, a kill from
Robinson and two errors on the Buckeyes. A kill from Pollmiller put NU
up 10-4 and forced Ohio State to call a timeout, while the Huskers
continued to stretch their lead to 16-7. The Huskers closed out OSU on
an 8-2 run to win 25-12. Robinson tallied four kills in
the second set, while Haggerty had three. Pollmiller dished out 12
assists in the set as the Huskers hit .360. Ohio State was held to a
-.103 hitting clip and only had one team block. Kills from
Robinson and Kadie Rolfzen put the Huskers up 11-6 in the third set,
while Ohio State called a timeout. A kill from Pollmiller put NU
up 20-13, and Nebraska went on to win the third set 25-17. Robinson
led NU in the third set with five kills, while Amber Rolfzen, Haggerty
and Kadie Rolfzen all had three. Nebraska hit .351 in the set, while
Ohio State hit just .143. Ohio State took a 4-1 lead in
the fourth set, but Lyles came to the service line and put the Huskers
up 8-6. Nebraska went ahead 13-9, while a kill from Amber Rolfzen put
NU up 16-12. Ohio State came as close as 20-19, but a kill from Kadie
Rolfzen and a hitting error on the Buckeyes distanced the Huskers at
22-19. Nebraska held on to win the fourth set 25-19 and seal the match
victory. Kadie Rolfzen posted six kills in the final
set, while Robinson had five kills. Nebraska hit .265 for the set as
the Buckeyes hit .121.
