Coach Kill
Announces Roster Changes
University of Minnesota head football coach Jerry
Kill announced the signing of two student-athletes to Big Ten
scholarship tenders Friday. Kill also announced the departure of two
student-athletes from the Gopher football program.
Wide receiver Malcolm Moulton (Lawrenceville, Ga.), a transfer from
Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College, has signed with the Gophers. Also
signing to play for Minnesota is quarterback Dexter Foreman of Manvel
(Texas) High School. Both Moulton and Foreman are slated to be with the
team for fall camp in August.
Moulton is a 5-11, 185-pounder who played one season at Fort Scott. He
hauled in 44 receptions for 714 yards and five touchdowns last season
for the Greyhounds. He was listed as the No. 31 junior college player
in the nation and is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com.
Moulton prepped at Central Gwinnett (Ga.) High School. He turned in a
40-reception season for 545 yards in 2007. That reception total ranks
him No. 7 on the school's single-season receiving records chart.
Moulton will have three seasons of eligibility at Minnesota.
“After spring ball, we felt we had an issue with depth at the
receiver position,” Kill said. “We needed some additional
help at that position. We’re hoping Malcolm can help us in that
area.”
Foreman is listed at 6-1, 210. He passed for more than 3,000 yards and
nearly 30 touchdowns in his Manvel High School career. As a senior,
Foreman rushed for 402 yards and four scores, while completing
90-of-142 passes for 1,198 yards, with 10 touchdowns and five
interceptions. In his junior season, Foreman completed 80-of-147 passes
for 843 yards and four TDs with five interceptions. As a sophomore, he
passed for 1,251 yards and 15 touchdowns, after completing 104-of-225
pass attempts with 10 interceptions. Rivals.com lists him as a two-star
recruit.
“Quarterback was also an area where we felt we could add a
player,” Kill said. “We’d like to create some more
competition at the quarterback position and we’re hoping Dexter
can help us do that.”
In addition to announcing the two newest Golden Gophers, Kill announced
the departure of running back DeLeon Eskridge and tight end Tiree Eure.
“DeLeon has a family situation and he needs to be able to get
closer to home,” Kill said. “He and I both felt it was in
his best interest to make this decision. Things just didn’t work
out for Tiree. We wish them both the best of luck in the future.”
