Hoosier Baseball Adds Eight During Early Signing Period
BLOOMINGTON,
Ind. - The Indiana University baseball program has signed eight future
student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2012-13 school
year. The class spans across the country with the signees coming from
eight different states.
EVAN BELL RHP/1B • L/R • 6-6 • 190 lbs. • Blue Valley H.S. • Stilwell, Kan. Named
to the First Team All-Kansas ... also tabbed as First Team All-Eastern
Kansas League and Second Team All-Metro selections ... concluded junior
season with a 7-1 record, 1.91 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 61 innings
pitched ... recorded a .411 batting average as well ... led Blue Valley
High to a third place finish in the Kansas 5A State Tournament ... the
son of Susan and Marvin Bell.
GARRET BROWN INF • S/R • 5-9 • 165 lbs. • Beckman H.S. • Irvine, Calif. All-Pacific
Coast League selection ... led Beckman High to a 29-1 record and
California Interscholastic Federation (Southern Section Division 3)
Championship in 2011 ... batted .359, including a 16-of-40 (.400)
showing against pitchers whom signed with Division-I universities; with
six doubles, two triples and a .505 on-base percentage as his team's
leadoff hitter last season ... succeeded on 9-for-9 stolen base
attempts ... named the Defensive Player of the Year ... the son
of Barbara and Bill Brown.

undefeated on the mound in 2011, posting a 5-0 record with 1.90 ERA and
50 strikeouts in 45 innings pitched ... led Lexington Catholic High to
a 29-6 record and a No. 1 ranking in the state of Kentucky ... excelled
in summer ball as well, hurling three no-hitters for the Kentucky
Baseball Club ... went 7-1 with a 1.40 ERA and 58 strikeouts during the

the 2011 Conference Pitcher of the Year and Team MVP after compiling an
8-1 record, 1.33 ERA and 87 strikeouts in 58 innings on the mound and
stroking three homeruns, 16 RBI and a .400 batting average at the dish
... led Holy Family Catholic High to conference titles in the most wins
in school history in both his sophomore and junior seasons ... the son

Team All-Conference selection after leading the league with 38 hits in

player with three homeruns, nine doubles and a .403 batting average;
and 40 strikeouts and a 4-1 record in 2011 ... named to the All-Central
Suburban League Team after leading Glenbrook South High to the league
title and an overall record of 25-8 ... chosen as an all-league player
in football as well, playing both wide receiver and strong safety ...
the son of Challen and Matt Stadler ... his brother, Walker, is a
redshirt sophomore, right-handed pitcher for the Hoosiers.
